Candlemas, Imbolc, Groundhog Day

This holiday/"Holy Day" is halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, and in the Celtic calendar is called Imbolc. It marks the stirrings of spring and new beginnings. The purification that is associated with Candlemas can be viewed as a purification and purging of negative emotions that block the emergence of your own inner spring.

In Tarot this would appear in the card of the High Priestess: she who observes things emerging and growing on one side or one pillar, but also sees that which lies in the shadow and either blocks or does not emerge on the other side or pillar. The High Priestess can be associated with Mary in Christianity and with Brigid in Celtic tradition.

We will explore these two pillars, or your own inner spring and its shadows in class. Bring your Zen decks or whatever other cards you have two work with in class
